The Athlete's longitudinal signature at peak form — the joint pattern of Mechanical Efficiency, FTP, Execution Precision, and HRV trend that uniquely identifies their strongest day.
Definition
Peak Signature is the system's identification of the Athlete's peak-form pattern from the longitudinal record. The signature is computed from the Athlete's best 14-day window in the last 365 days across the four True Normal metrics. The signature is used as the target state for peak-event preparation — a gran fondo, a stage race, a time trial — and as the comparison point for deload-block exit. Two Athletes with identical FTP can have different Peak Signatures; the system reads each against their own.

Closed Loop
The metric traverses the closed loop: Intent is the .zwo prescription the system computed against the Athlete’s True Normal. Telemetry is the .fit recording of the executed session. Adaptation is the longitudinal movement of the metric itself, logged against the True Normal and feeding back into the next day’s prescription via Protocol 10 (Adaptive Workout).
Worked Example
Athlete's Peak Signature (read from a 14-day window in March): Mechanical Efficiency 1.63 W/bpm, FTP 282W, Execution Precision 0.92 mean, HRV trend +6% above baseline. Gran fondo scheduled for September. By August week 1, the Athlete's metrics: 1.61 W/bpm, 280W, 0.89, +4%. Adaptive Workout scheduler reads the 4-week gap to the signature and dispatches a 3-week supra-threshold block followed by a 7-day taper. Gran fondo week: signature recovered to 1.63 / 282W / 0.91 / +5%. Protocol 15 re-entry dispatched 3 outdoor rides pre-event.
Common assumption inverted
Peak Signature is not the Athlete's "best ever." It is their best recent form — the signature the system can plausibly return to within the current training block. The Athlete who chases a 5-year-old PR will not find it in the signature; the signature is read from the last 365 days only, and it reflects what the body has demonstrated is currently reachable.
